Julep Maven May 2014 Box-Fresh Twist Collection featuring the Plie Wand!

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to tell you all what was in my May 2014 Julep Maven box.  I got the Bombshell box this month.  Without further hesitation, here it is:

Product of the Month: Julep Plie Wand-This has been the talk of the town since Julep started the crowdfunding in January or February of this year.  It's basically a wand that is the same length of a pen and you hold it like a pen when you polish your nails.  It bends so you can paint with your non-dominate hand.  I was one of the crowdfunders that got to try this product first and I got to say I'm really impressed.  I can paint my nails easily without the mess or cleanup afterwards.  It's a great tool so thank you Julep for coming up with the idea.

Laree- Laree is a beautiful pink polish with a golden shimmer to it.  In the light you can see the golden shimmer in it.  It is a bright, bold color for spring and summer.

Saaya- Saaya is a gorgeous apricot polish with a golden shimmer to it.  I liked that Julep put both Laree and Saaya in the same box together.  They match perfectly together.  You can see the golden shimmer in Saaya under the light also.

Bonus polish for crowdfunders: Yumi, which is a pink/silver glitter polish.  I wear it on my accent nails over both the May Bombshell polishes and it looks perfect.  It's a keeper.

Add-on: The Plie Wand Creativity Kit- At $4.99 it was a steal so I got it.  It includes a striping brush and dotting tool.  Frankly the dotting tool works better than the striping brush.  The brush separates leaving your lines streaky and uneven.  Maybe I should have patience with it but we'll see.

That what was in my box this month.  Next month subscribers get the option to customize their box.  I'm getting the My Maven option and I'm paying $5 more monthly just to customize and I don't mind paying more for my box if I have the option to customize so it's all good.  Have a great day guys and stay tuned for more.

Cancelled Julep So PLEASE DON'T Use My Referral Link!

Hey Everyone,
Since I have two other nail polish subscriptions that are better than Julep I have decided to cancel Julep so please don't use my Julep referral link anymore.  I find it still works even though my account is cancelled so please don't use it.  Thanks!

Julep Maven It Girl Box for January 2014: The Boudoir Collection

Hey Everyone,
Sorry I was MIA for a few months.  I was finishing up the Fall semester of school plus I had some financial difficulties but I hope I'll be back with some subscription box reviews.  So this month's Julep Maven box was all about fancy finishes and top drawer products (which didn't interest me that much, the products I mean) but I loved the silk and satin finishes so I used my Julep Jules points to get this box free plus a couple of add-ons(thank you to those of you who used my referral link).  So let's get to it.  I don't have a picture of the box itself or the polishes but I'll do my best to describe them.

Annemarie- Annemarie is a warm cocoa crème.  She looks similar to a polish I got from squarehue called Chatham but a little lighter.  To spice it up I put a coat of Sally Hansen's Pixel Perfect on her.  Here's a swatch of Annemarie without the glitter coat.

Hope- Hope is a stark white satin finish polish.  It is definitely white, matte and has a satin feel to it.  It looked too plain so I put Sally Hansen's Bold Gold top coat on it and that spiced the white polish up a little.  Here's a swatch of it without the top coat.

Farrah- Farrah is a lilac silk finish polish.  I haven't tried it out yet but it's got a metallic shimmer look in the bottle and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Mae- This was one of my add-ons.  It is described as a lavender satin finish.  It looks like a pale purple color in the bottle.  Can't wait to try this one on my nails.

Margot- This was my other add-on.  It is a old Hollywood gold color.  It looks metallic in the bottle.  I swatched it on the cap and it looks out of this world.  I love metallic polishes along with shimmer, frost, and now silk and satin finish polishes.  Julep keeps on getting better and better each month.

That's all for now.  Until next time guys have a great night and stay tuned for more!

Review and Swatch: SquareHue's "Portsmouth" Nail Polish

Hey Everyone,
Here I am again with a review and swatch post, this time it's SquareHue's "Portsmouth" Nail Polish from the November "Coastal" Collection.  Here's the swatch:

As you can see it's more blue on the swatch than in person.  In person it's a nice shade of bluish-grey.  The formula is great, it went on effortlessly and easy.  I used two coats in this picture.  This color is similar to another color but I won't mention names or companies.  It's a pretty blue almost a deep blue mixed with grey undertones.

Until next time guys have a great day and stay tuned for more!
